Lahore, March 09, 2016 (PPI-OT):On Wednesday, 9th March 2016, a delegation from KOSGEB, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Turkey visited the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade headquarters in Lahore. The delegation, which included the President of KOSGEB Mr. Recep Bïçer, his advisor Mr. Süleyman Islamoglu and the Director for EU and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Necmi Uzun met with representatives of PBIT, including the CEO Ms. Amena Cheema. Discussions were held relating to Pakistan-Turkey relations and all the investments being made into Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises by Turkey.
Pakistan has friendly ties with Turkey, especially under the current government, under whom various projects in collaboration with Turkey have taken place, including projects in the transportation and construction sectors. The meeting was held to discuss on how to further enhance Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises and what investment would Turkey be willing to do in this sector in Pakistan. Currently $36 billion worth of energy projects are being implemented all over Punjab in collaboration with Turkey.
The CEO of PBIT, Ms Amena Cheema was delighted at the eagerness of the delegation to hit the ground running in Pakistan. The delegation wanted to seek PBIT’s help in facilitating their needs in the form of meetings with relevant people in the industry and any other form of help possible. The delegation soon left the PBIT headquarters to further discuss the proposition at the Chief Minister’s Office.
