Traffic laws must be enforced effectively without fear or favour and there should be no exception: Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema

Islamabad, September 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): Traffic laws must be enforced effectively, without fear or favour and there should be no exception or exemption. But at the same time Motorway Police officers must demonstrate extreme courtesy with travellers and road users”.

This was stated by Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police (NH and MP), while presiding over an operational meeting held in the Central Police Office, Islamabad today (Wednesday). The meeting was attended by DIGs and SSPs of the Motorway Police.

It was decided in the meeting that driving licenses of habitual violators of traffic laws would be suspended for three months. All those who are challaned and fined for more than three times shall not be allowed to drive any vehicle for three months. It would go a long way to prevent rash driving on the motorway and national highways which would ultimately reduce the number of accidents.

It was also decided that drivers’ training courses for HTV drivers would commence by the end of this month at the NH and MP Training College, Sheikhupura.
