Islamabad, March 10, 2016 (PPI-OT):Patron Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt on Thursday said traders unconditionally support demand of Rangers for additional powers so that it can ensure peace in a better way. Rangers should be allowed to establish their own police stations register FIR and submit and charge-sheets in the courts of law, he said.
Shahid Rasheed Butt said that Rangers has substantially reduced crime rate in the country’s economic hub. During 2014 eighteen hundred people were killed in target killings while in 2015 the rate was reduced to 800 people which indicate effectiveness of the institution.
He said that Rangers have not only revived the writ of the government but also infused confidence in the masses as well as business community which is providing sixty five percent taxes to the national kitty. He said that Pakistan’s international credit worthiness cannot improve unless situation in Karachi is made better which is only possible in presence of Rangers.
Life is returning to normalcy in Karachi where economic activities are gaining momentum and soon this city would become preference for the investors, he said. The veteran business leader demanded two-year extension in stay of Rangers with enhanced power, saying that Rangers were not needed in Karachi had police not being so politicised. He said that the ambit of Rangers activities should also be expanded to other cities so that business community can feel safe.
