Islamabad, November 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): The local traders has called upon the Capital Development Authority to take urgent measures to ban all sorts of commercial activities in residential areas as it is hurting the business of genuine businessmen in commercial areas and is also the blatant violation of CDA’s master plan.
Ikhlaq Abbasi, President, Traders Welfare Association, G-9 Markaz, Islamabad said that hundreds of residential houses are being used for various commercial activities like guest houses, schools, beauty parlors, clinics, massage centers, gyms, furniture shops, garment showrooms etc. which are negatively impacting the business activities in commercial centers. If this trend was not curbed immediately, all residential houses will gradually turn into commercial areas, which is total violation of CDA’s master plan and will also distort the beauty of Islamabad.
He alleged non-conforming use of residential areas in Islamabad for commercial activities is being done in connivance with CDA’s BCS officers and Inspectors and for this purpose, Bhatta on daily basis is being received from such houses.
CDA Inspector of F-6 Sector is on top of the list for such practices as he has allowed hundreds of showrooms and other commercial activities at Nazimuddin Road and other areas. Such activities in residential areas are not only hurting the business of commercial centers, they are also disturbing the peace of residents and are becoming a source of concern for them.
Ikhlaq Abbasi further said that erection of huge signboards at different roads of Islamabad is also a clear violation of CDA’s master plan. Some days ago, CDA went to the court against these massive size signboards, but now CDA’s Director Municipal Administration Hamza Shafqaat (who is now turning into the main troublemaker) has auctioned these signboards in the garb of generating revenue for the civic body just to appease his seniors.
He said without the approval of National Assembly, CDA is not authorized to make any amendment in its master plan. He stressed for thorough investigation against the auction of big signboards in Islamabad and urged upon CDA to strictly control non-conforming use of all residential areas by banning commercial activities in these areas.
