Islamabad, November 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the representatives of all markets of Islamabad was held here under the chair of Ajmal Baloch, Central Organizing Secretary of Traders Action Committee. Munawar Mughal, former President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the chief guest.
The meeting passed a unanimous resolution to condemn the Raja Bazar incident and demanded for early compensation of the loss suffered by traders as well as arrest of miscreants to bring them to book.
The traders passed another resolution calling for early replacement of Chairman and Director Municipal Administration of Capital Development Authority along with taking disciplinary action against both officers as their anti-business decisions were creating law and order problems in the federal capital.
The meeting unanimously decided that if traders’ demand was not accepted by 26th November 2013, they would launch a protest movement and would call for complete shutter down in Islamabad.
Addressing the meeting, Ajmal Baloch, Central Organizing Secretary of Traders Action Committee and President of Traders Welfare Association of Aabpara Market said that we will never allow CDA to impose any new tax forcefully in Islamabad in the form of parking fee in markets. If CDA wants to impose parking fee in markets, it should first construct parking plazas in all major commercial centers to provide decent parking facility.
He said Director Municipal Administration CDA has unilaterally made many times increase in Trade License fee and symbolic penalties, which is totally illegal and unethical. He said a responsible person should be appointed DMA in CDA who should be well-versed with the problems of federal capital.
Speaking at the occasion, Munawar Mughal, former President ICCI called for a thorough investigation against CDA’s imported officers who are conspiring to create law and order problems by taking anti-traders measures. He assured that ICCI would continue to support the genuine demands of traders.
Ejaz Abbasi, President, Traders Welfare Association, F-7 Jinnah Super Market and Raja Waheed, General Secretary of Traders Welfare Association, Sitara Market advised the CDA officers to change their attitude towards business community. They said traders are main stakeholders of the federal capital, but imported officers of CDA are taking anti-business measures which would create more problems for the government.
Ch. Waqas President and Malik Waqar General Secretary G-11 Markaz, Sarfraz Mughal President and Muhammad Hussain General Secretary Super Market, Haji Nisar Langa President G-9/4, Yasir Jamil Abbasi President and Ch. Waheed General Secretary of I-8 Markaz, Shafique Abbasi General Secretary Aabpara Market, Syed Adil Anis President and Mehboob ul Muqarram General Secretary Melody market, Ch. Muhammad Saeed President and Abdul Ghaffar Chaudhry General Secretary of G-8 market, Fayyaz Ahmad President G-9/1, Tahir Ayub General Secretary Wholesale Fruit Market and many other leaders of different markets of Islamabad also addressed the meeting and called upon the CDA to immediately replace Chairman and DMA CDA along with withdrawal of parking fee from markets.
