Trade and industry condemns harassment of business leaders

Karachi: The trade and industry in Karachi has strongly condemned the registration of an FIR against LCCI President Irfan Qaiser, Senior Vice President Kashif Younis, Former Chairman of Pakistan Poultry Association, and other who were peacefully demonstrating against gas closure to the industry.

In a statement business leader and Patron In-Chief Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) S M Muneer, Chairman Ehteshamuddin, Vice Chairmen, Hasham A Razzak, Tariq Malik and former Chairman Mian Zahid Hussain while terming the harassment of business representatives as uncalled for and unfounded have demanded immediate withdrawal of the unjustified and baseless FIR against business community leaders in Punjab. Registration of FIR makes the point that the government is least interested in economic activities in the country and wants to turn the country and meant to turn the country into a trading hub instead of making it a manufacturing place.

They said that owing to polices of the government, which lacks consultation with business community the sufferings of the business community were multiplying with every passing day and they were unable to cope with day-to-day challenges.

Expressing their solidarity with all chambers of commerce and industry in Punjab said that police department should be ordered to withdraw the FIR immediately.
