Top priority to develop far-flung and neglected areas – Minister for Finance

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance, Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan has said that the present government was giving top most priority to rapid development of far-flung and neglected areas to bring them at par with the developed areas of the province so that the people of these areas were also provided basic amenities of life at their door-step.

He expressed these views while addressing a public gathering at the residence of Haji Zahir Shah at Pir Khel Malakand District on Saturday. On this occasion besides Haji Bahadur Said, a large number of elite of the area including District Officer SRSP Sajjad Khan were also present.

Engineer Humayun claimed that during the last four years of his tenure, developmental schemes worth million of rupees have been completed which has no precedent in the past. He said that he has joined the politics to follow the foot-prints of his late father Muhammad Hanif Khan for the cause of poor and pledged that he will fulfil his mission at all costs.

He said when the present elected government took reign of power, the law and order was in deteriorated condition and even the writ of the government was challenged as well as the whole infrastructure of the province was shattered due to earth-quake and floods.

In these difficult situations, the minister added, the government took certain historical decisions to safe-guard the future of coming generation which were being endorsed the world-over.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated the Sarhad Rural Support Programme Schemes including the Shagai Pir Khel and Maikhband bridges and irrigation water channel Pir Khel completed with a cost of Rs. 10 lac and Rs. 08 lac each respectively.
