Srinagar, June 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) has expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of several Hurriyat leaders including Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah and Ayaz Muhammad Akbar.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in a statement issued in Srinagar said, Raja Merajuddin’s seven-member family has no male member at home. “The seven female members at home include his four small daughters, wife, mother-in-law and his own mother,” it said. Raja Merajuddin Kalwal continues to remain under detention at New Delhi’s Tihar Jail for the past several months.
The statement said that Raja Merajuddin had already spent 13 years in jails from 1990 to 2016 and was booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act, many times during 2010 and 2011. “The parents and children of the Hurriyat leader are deeply saddened and depressed as there is no income to their family and no other male to look after them. They have appealed to the world human rights bodies including the Amnesty International to look into this matter and help in his release,” the statement added.
