Srinagar, December 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a TADA court in Srinagar has acquitted 11 persons in a case registered against them by police for alleged attempt to disrupt poll process during 1987 so-called Assembly elections.The TADA Court of Additional District Judge, Muzaffar Iqbal Qureshi, acquitted the accused after prosecution failed to provide witnesses in the case.
“The prosecution has not produced or examined a single witness before this court till date despite opportunities afforded to it,” the court said. “In the interest of justice, the prosecution evidence is closed and consequently the accused persons who have faced the trail in this court are acquitted with honour,” the court added.
Those acquitted are Pervaiz Ahmed Dar; Ishtiaq Ahmed Chinga, Muhammad Shafi Rather, Nazir Ahmed Peerzada, Farooq Ahmad Gojri, Mushtaq Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Abdul Qayoom Butt, Nazir Ahmed, Abdul Hamid Bakhshi and Zahoor Ahmed Chiloo.
