Dubai: The Minister Commerce, Government of Pakistan and the Chief Minister Sindh attended the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Dubai which is being participated by over 60 countries, 40 ministers and more than 2000 delegates from around the world.
The Crown Prince- Sheikh Hamdan bin Al Nahayyan and the Minister for trade, Sheikh Lubna Bint Khalid visited the Pakistan and Sindh Pavilion at the AIM where the Chairman Board of Investment Sindh briefed about immense investment potential of Sindh particularly in Agriculture, Livestock, Thar Coal and Energy, Infrastructure Development and Solid Waste Management.
The Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto also visited the Aims and the Chief Minister Sindh – Syed Qaim Ali Shah briefed him on various investment projects and opportunities that are being showcased by Sindh Board of Investment. Mr. Zubair Motiwala, Chairman Sindh Board of Investment explained the competitive strengths of the province which provided tremendous opportunities in Energy, especially the Coal Mining; Coal to power; Wind Energy; Agro-Processing and Infrastructure for investment.
The Chief Minister held separate meetings with other important dignitaries attending the conference. On the sidelines of the event, G2G meetings were also held with Mr. Zafar Caglayan, Turkish Minister of Economy whereby Chief Minister Sindh invited Turkish companies to share their expertise in the Solid Waste Management sectors of Sindh.
He thanked the Minister for the assistance extended by the Turkish Government for the rehabilitation of flood affected people in Sindh. Chief Minister assured the Minister that all steps will be taken to enhance existing trade levels and sought cooperation in the areas of Energy, Agro Processing and Solid Waste Management. The Chief Minister assured the Turkish
Minister for Economy that Government of Sindh will facilitate Turkish investors in
Sindh and resolve their concerns.
A G2G meeting was held with HE Sheikh Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qassimi the Foreign Trade Minister UAE where the Federal Minister Commerce and the Chief Minister Sindh stressed on giving a strategic thrust to UAE and Pakistan economic relations. The Chief Minister stressed that Pakistan presently requires energy and the Government of Pakistan and Sindh have announced a detailed incentive package.
Similarly he stressed that Sindh can facilitate opportunities for Agro processing and solutions for food requirements may it be in grains; horticulture and poultry and meat. The UAE Trade Minister agreed that she will give instructions to her team for intensifying the collaboration and she said the Government of UAE was very happy to see such massive participation by the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh.
Chief Minister Sindh also held a detailed meeting with Al-Minhal Group, UAE for exploration of investment opportunities in the Coal and energy sector of Sindh. Investor showed keen interest in Thar Coal Project and agreed to conduct follow- up meeting along with Chinese assistance.
