Islamabad: Mrs. Micheline Calmy-Rey, President of the Swiss Confederation telephoned Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani today and expressed her concern about the kidnapping of the Swiss couple in July this year in Balochistan.
The Prime Minister assured that all concerned agencies were under specific instructions to do their utmost and ensure the quick and safe recovery of the Swiss national.
The Swiss President said that she will not be able to receive the Prime Minister as President after the expiry of her second term, but it was her earnest desire that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries would continue to enhance in future.
It may be mentioned here that the second term of the Swiss President will expire before the forthcoming World Economic Forum (WEF) at Devos in which the Prime Minister is likely to participate.
Mrs. Micheline Calmy-Rey also enquired about the health of the President of Pakistan and expressed her best wishes for the President.
The Prime Minister said that ties between the two countries have been strengthening by regular exchanges and Devos was resulting in greater understanding of the issues of global importance.
The Prime Minister commended the role of the Swiss Government being an important member of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan forum.
The Prime Minister appreciated the humanitarian assistance of the Swiss Government for the earthquake and flood victims in Pakistan.
