Karachi, May 26, 2016 (PPI-OT):In anticipation of heat wave that is expected to hit Karachi in near future, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) joined hands with Alamgir Welfare Trust (AWT) for setting up ‘Heat Stroke Relief Camps’ at 15 locations of the mega town. These camps will offer awareness to the pedestrians through pamphlet distribution and announcement on public address system.
The camps will simultaneously provide prevention to those who suffer from heat stroke as they are stuffed with beds for the patients, cold drinking water, juices, ORS, pedestal fans and towels with an exclusivity of an insulated room for the effected people. These camps are being set up near Hassan Square, Korangi Crossing, Clifton, FTC Flyover, Mehran Town, Hub River Road etc. The first camp kicked off today that is adjacent to the head office of AWT.
Talking to the media, AWT’s Director Public Relations Mr. Shakeel Dehalvi said that the relief activities of the Trust were highly appreciated during the deadly spell of heat wave, last year that took a heavy toll of human lives in Karachi. In recognition of the efforts, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif specially called upon the officials of the Trust and applauded them on this service to humanity. Mr. Dehalvi acknowledged the year-round cooperation of SSGC in their relief activities.
SSGC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Shahbaz Islam who was present on the occasion with his large contingent comprising of members from his department and volunteers from SSGC’s ‘Hum Qadam’ program applauded the initiatives taken by AWT in setting up these relief camps. He said that under its CSR program, SSGC stands committed to serve the community it operates within and will leave no stone unturned in serving Karachiites during this expected forthcoming spell of heat wave.
Also present on the occasion were AWT’s General Secretary Mr. Shamim A. Chandna, Assistant Trustee, Mr. Nisar Ahmed, SSGC’s In-charge CSR Program, Mr. Salman A. Siddiqui and Chief Manager Media Relations, Mr. Muhammad Ali Gohar along with respective teams from both the organizations.
