Karachi, July 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): SSGC’s Surveillance and Monitoring (S and M) Department has launched a major crack down operation against ice factories located in Larkana and Bakrani cities by so far raiding seven such facilities.
The operation that started in May 2013 continues to this day. S and M has been backed up in this effort by the Company’s Sukkur Office, Distribution and Security Departments. The teams have been able to disconnect gas supply which was helping the factories in running their operations at optimum pressure around the clock.
The factories were using gas directly by installing clamps on distribution lines. During the raid, the teams disconnected direct connections, removed illegal clamps and killed service lines. Rangers and other LEA’s were also lined up for the operation.
Although some of the factories were registered industrial customers with installed meters, still they were using gas directly through clamps.
SSGC have officials found out that there are around 120 ice factories in these areas, some operating as registered customers while others consuming gas as unregistered users. The Company’s S and M Department has planned action against such unregistered customers.
