Lahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that students should make honesty and getting proficiency in their subjects an aim of their lives.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of Prayer Room and Ladies Room at Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology here on Friday. ICET Director Prof Dr Zahoor-ul-Hassan Rizvi, Principal College of Engineering and Emerging Technologies Prof Dr Rafiq, faculty members, a large number of students and employees participated in the ceremony.
The VC said that the future of Pakistan was bright and the students would see her powerful and great. He said that power was a must for respectable survival in the world and knowledge was the only way to gain power.
But, he said, the nation could not be knowledgeable unless it had qualities of character. He said that Salaa’h taught us punctuality but we did not follow and implement its lesson and teachings in our everyday life. He said lack of knowledge was a reason of the miseries of 1.4 billion Muslims in the world. He said that extra-curricular activities of the students should be appreciated and encouraged as it developed confidence among them.
He lauded the efforts of Dr Rizvi for taking landmark initiatives for the betterment of the institute in the past four years. In his inaugural address, Dr Rizvi said that the credit of all the development in the PU went to Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for providing all-out facilities for the development of the institute.
He said he had focused to not to produce engineers only but good human beings as well. Earlier, an inspiring documentary was screened covering the four-year development of the university and ICET. The VC announced Rs 5,000 for each student for producing a good documentary.
