Strike, demos in Tral against Indian troops’ atrocities

Srinagar, August 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete strike, marked by anti-India demonstrations, is being observed in Tral town of Pulwama district, today, against the arrest of youth and other brutalities by the Indian troops. All shops and business establishments are closed in the town while traffic is off the road.

Indian police have arrested eleven people in the last couple of days during nocturnal raids in the town. People took to streets and staged forceful demonstrations demanding an end to the brutalities of the Indian forces’ personnel and release of the arrested youth.

Indian troops and police personnel have intensified nocturnal raids in Tral. The forces’ personnel have erected barricades at all the entry and exit points of the town. Locals told media that all vehicles are being thoroughly frisked at various check points set up by the police and troops. On the other hand, Indian troops have launched a cordon and search operation in Thayen Kalaroos area of Kupwara district while the operation in several areas of Rafiabad in Baramulla district continues.
