State Bank of Pakistan establishes website for benefit of SMEs

Karachi, June 22, 2017 (PPI-OT):The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) thanked Imran Ahmad additional director State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for developing and establishing a website www.smepakistan.net for useful information for the SME sector and its stakeholders. President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver on behalf of himself and the Union members appreciated and felicitated the SBP team for the initiative and urged the SBP team to add the link of UNISAME and other SME promotion organizations.

Thaver said the SBP SME department does a lot for the sector and one remarkable step is making finance affordable. The SBP is working on financial inclusion under the NFIS which is a shared leadership with World Bank and ministry of finance.

The access to finance is crucial and over a period of time the SBP has been partially successful in impressing upon the banks to finance SMEs and it is hoped that in the remaining part of this year much will be achieved and all segments of the society will be included. The micro finance banks need to improve their productivity, profitability and portfolio to enable them reduce their mark up and make it affordable.
