Srinagar, December 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, speakers at a seminar stressing finding out the political settlement of the Kashmir dispute at the centre of Pak-India dialogue process have called for addressing the issue in a time-bound manner. The demand was made at the cross-LoC Civil Society dialogue, organized by New Delhi-based Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) in Jammu.
“There were three days of intense deliberations in which 60 people participated from both sides of the LoC, according to a statement released by the CDR. At the concluding session, the conference in a joint statement welcomed the ongoing Pak-India dialogue. “The political resolution of the Kashmir issue remains central to this process, and should be addressed in a time-bound manner,” the statement says.
The conference besides urging rehabilitation of all displaced people, with special focus on those who were forced to move after 1989, called for the upholding of the sanctity of human rights, civil liberties and tolerance for political dissent and ensuring speedy justice for victims of human rights violations, the joint statement adds.
