Solidarity expressed with victims of mass rape incident

Srinagar, March 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Movement, Tanveer Fatima along with party members, today, visited Dardpora area of Kupwara district and met the victims of mass rape incident by Indian troops. On the occasion, Tanveer Fatima expressed solidarity with the victims of the incident which took place 25 years ago.

Terming the Kunanposhpora mass rape as the worst incident in the history of Kashmir, she deplored that justice continued to elude the victims despite the passing of twenty five years. She said that the continued silence over Kunanposhpora rape case had exposed the double standards of Indian civil society, politicians and human rights activists. Indian troops had raped over one hundred women in Kunanposhpora area of Kupwara district during a siege and search operation on the night of February 23 in 1991.
