Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority organises training workshop on Social Media Marketing

Lahore, November 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), to celebrate “Global Entrepreneurship Week” held a training workshop on Social Media Marketing in collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), Lahore today at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex. Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, General Manager Outreach Division of SMEDA was chief guest of the workshop, which was also addressed by Ms. Shazia Suleman, newly elected President and Ms. Qaisra Sheikh, former President WCCI-Lahore. Whereas, Ms. Tania Buttar, Incharge Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Mr. Areeb Masood, Trainer of the workshop also spoke on this occasion.

Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry, General Manager SMEDA’s Outreach Division, while delivering address of welcome to the participants, apprised the participants about business development services available in SMEDA for new and existing SMEs. He informed that the from 25-30% individuals visiting SMEDA help-desk for having business support had been asking for marketing services, a majority of whom were the women entrepreneurs.

Therefore, he said that a series of training workshops on social media marketing had been planned for all major business cities, he said and informed that the first workshop of this series held at Multan was a great success. He appreciated the enthusiasm expressed by the office bearers of WCCI-Lahore for holding this workshop at Lahore. He told that the demands were being received also from the other cities of country, which would be responded by SMEDA very positively, he added.

Responding to a proposal of WCCI-Lahore President Ms. Shazia Suleman for establishing an exclusive training center for promoting women entrepreneurship, Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry asked to the WCCI-Lahore Office bearers to submit a written proposal so as to bring the idea on ground.

He informed that SMEDA is already engaged with developing common facility centres across the country for strengthening the various SME clusters including agro-food processing center, Multan, Sports Industry Development Center, Sialkot and Red Chillies Processing Center, Kunri, which had been completed and begun operation successfully.

Later, Mr. Areeb Masood, a renowned Social Marketing Expert gave a detailed presentation on various techniques to be used in the world for marketing of SME-based product on social media. He observed that the social media marketing techniques could be highly beneficial for women entrepreneurs to develop their businesses both in national and international market.
