Lahore, May 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): SME Bureau of Chinese Province Guangdong has invited the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to participate in the China International SME Fair (CISMEF) to be held in October this year at Guangzhou city of Guangdong.
The invitation was extended by Mr. He Zouxian, Deputy Director General of the Bureau at a meeting with Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry, Acting Chief Executive Officer of SMEDA. Mr. He was leading a Chinese delegation during his visit to SMEDA head office today. Mr. Hassanien Javaid, Provincial Chief SMEDA-Punjab, Ms. Nadia Jahangir Seth, Head Policy and Planning Division, Mr. Ashfaq Ahmad, DGM-Technical and Mr. Liaqat Ali Gohar, DGM-Admin. and PR accompanied the Acting CEO on this occasion.
Mr. He Zuoxian assured to offer special privileges and incentives to encourage participation of Pakistani SMEs in the CSMEF-2014. He said that Pakistan would be able to avail of new export opportunities for various items produced in its SME sector including handicrafts, Horticulture, food and Textile products. He also assured to arrange exclusive presentations’ events for Pakistan in the Fair.
Mr. Zouxian said it was the top priority of Chinese government to expand trade relations with Pakistan to the optimal level. That is why Pakistan is among the top most countries bearing Chinese investment, he said adding that the biggest part of Chinese investment made in the foreign construction industry belonged to Pakistan.
Mr. He was confident that CISMEF would prove to be the best international platform to get Pakistani SMEs introduced in the world market and also create joint venture opportunities to attract foreign investment.
He told that CISMEF had successfully held 10 editions since 2004 and attracted altogether over
20, 000 exhibitors and 1.1 million visitors from around the world. The Exhibitors come from various industries including electronics, household appliances, machine-making, textiles and garments, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, building materials, furniture, toys and gifts, cases, bags, headwear and footwear, etc, he added.
Earlier, Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry, Acting Chief Executive Officer SMEDA welcomed the Chinese delegation and expressed deep gratitude to leader of the delegation for his special invitation to SMEDA for participation in CSMEF-2014. He gave a detailed presentation on SMEDA’s projects and services with an exclusive focus on SMEDA’s collaboration with International organizations like UNIDO, World Bank. Asian Development Bank, JICA, JETRO and GTZ.
He assured to utilize CSMEF-2014 as a unique opportunity for penetration of Pakistani SMEs in the world market and hoped that the event would also open up new vistas for bilateral trade and investments between China and Pakistan.
