Lahore, November 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): The downloads of pre-feasibility studies developed by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) for Prime Minister’s Small Business Loan Scheme for youth have reached a record number of 101,540 in a short span of one month. SMEDA has termed it a landmark achievement and an indicator of the popularity of the Prime Minister’s initiative. According to SMEDA, there has been a great demand of the pre-feasibility studies from across the globe from Saudi Arabia, USA, UK, UAE, Canada, Nepal and Afghanistan.
A set of 50 fresh pre-feasibility studies have recently been developed by SMEDA for Agri-processing, dairy and livestock, chemicals, horticulture, fisheries, food, construction, marble, minerals, construction, leather, textile, energy and services sectors, and are available, free of cost at SMEDA website www.smeda.org.pk.
SMEDA CEO Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, while commenting on the achievement, said that nurturing entrepreneurship among youth through providing them tools and resources, for converting ideas and skills into commercial ventures is the key priority of SMEDA, which has clearly been reflected in its 5-Year SME Development Plan (2013-18).
SMEDA aims at building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that specifically addresses entrepreneurship development growth software, comprising business support networks and platforms to synergize and provide state-of-the-art entrepreneurship and start-up support services, he said adding that SMEDA was proactively busy in developing ways and means for access to entrepreneurial finance and mentors along with identification of new business opportunities and support infrastructure for SMEs in the country.
