Six Muttahida Quami Movement workers released after intervention of Murad Ali Shah

Karachi, August 18, 2016 (PPI-OT):After the intervention of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah the Karachi police have released six workers of MQM arrested from Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah taking notice of hunger strike being observed by MQM workers at Karachi press club directed IG Police to release the MQM workers if they are clear in the investigation. “I do not intervene in police affairs but would never allow you [the police] to detain innocent people,” he said while talking to IG AD Khwaja on telephone.

He said that his policy was very clear to make the police stations public friendly. There should not be unnecessary harassment of any citizen but “in my government nobody would be allowed to support criminals,” he said categorically. The IG told the chief minister that some MQM workers have been arrested from Gulistan-e-Jauhar sector who were included in the investigation of a case. The Chief Minister directed him to release them if they are clean in the investigation. Latter the IG AD Khwaja informed the chief minister that the police have release six MQM workers.

The chief minister also talked to leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar and apprised him about his instructions to the IG police. “We are political people and do not believe in political victimization,” he said and added “We have never intervened in political activities of any political party. He assured Khwaja Izhar that their workers would be released shortly if they are found innocent. Latter, the IGP informed the chief minister that the police have released six MQM workers arrested from Gulistan-e-Jauhar Sector.

Those who have been released include Syed Arshad Ali s/o Syed Intikhab Ali, Mohammad Adeel s/o Shamsheer Ali, Syed Taleh Ali s/o Syed Azhar Ali, Waqas Ahmed s/o Nasar Ahmed, Gulam Murtaza s/o Ghulam Nabi Qadri and Zishan Bashir s/o Bashir Ahmed. The chief minister hoped that MQM workers would end their hunger strike because the demand for which had gone on the strike have been fulfilled.


Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah just after finishing his meetings at New Sindh secretariat left to visit Jahangir Park, Saddar without any protocol. The chief minister expressed his displeasure on dumping of filth and garbage in the park. “This is not only the duty of the government to maintain the park but it becomes responsibility of each and every individual living in vicinity to keep it neat and clean,” he said. He lamented that the fruit and vegetable vendors and other shopkeepers working around the park have turned it into a dumping ground.

He directed deputy commissioner south to construct compound wall around the park and develop it properly. This is most important area where people from far flung areas of the city come for shopping. Therefore, there must be place where they could sit respectfully. “I want not only restoration of the park but removal of encroachment from the entire Saddar area.
