Peshawar: Sindh Minister for Social Welfare r Social Welfare Mrs. Nargas ND Khan along with a team of her department called on her counterpart Mrs. Sitara Ayaz in her office here in Peshawar on Tuesday.
On this occasion, issues relating to child Protection and Women Empowerment in both the provinces were discussed. Both the ministers agreed to desire to arrange Video Conference for the purpose of sharing information and to solve the problems relating to Social sector through benefitting each other’s experiences.
Mrs. Sitara Ayaz told the delegation that Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw Government had taken valuable steps to protect the rights of children adding that Child Protection Units are working in eight districts of the province where 2000 Children have been registered so far.
Four Dara-ul-Aman are functioning in Peshawar while Crises Center and Shelter Houses are also working for the help of helpless women. Many projects in the name of Women Empowerment are running under the Social Welfare Department, Sitara Ayaz added.
She said that war on terror remained a challenge for the Province, while on the other hand it was also facing a number of problems since 2005; however, the government was trying its best to come over these challenges with the limited resources.
The Sindh Minister for Social Welfare Mrs. Nargas ND khan said that disabled children needed special attention of the government and the Social Welfare Department of Sindh was actively working for the betterment of this deserving segment of the society.
She termed her visit to Peshawar a success hoping that such exchange of information would go a long way in addressing the issues facing the social welfare departments of both the governments. The delegation also visited the Child Protection Unit in Peshawar.
