Sindh Industrial Trading Estate Association condemns unilateral loadshedding

Karachi, July 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): SITE Association of Industry Chairman, Younus M. Bashir, has expressed dismay over the unilateral supply of electricity to the SITE industries. According to him, more than seven hours long loadshedding of electricity has made SITE industries unviable which are compelled to close down.

Despite provision of 222 MMCF average gas by SSGC to K-Electric, unannounced loadshedding is incomprehensible, he added. Younus M. Bashir further stated that due to the reduced working hours in Ramadan and unannounced loadshedding, production process has decreased resulting in difficulties to meet the deadlines of export deliveries.

He also asserted that SITE is being discriminated in the supply of electricity as compared to the other industrial areas. Unannounced loadshedding of electricity has also resulted in shortage of water in the SITE area.

Chairman SITE Association demanded priority in provision of electricity to SITE area from which K-Electric collects 99% bills. He, therefore, urged the Managing Director and other authorities of K-Electric to take notice of the situation and grant exemption to the SITE mills from loadshedding of power supply.
