Karachi, November 01, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Government of Sindh has entered into an agreement with the Sindh Insurance Limited for providing “Universal Accidental Insurance and Social Benefit” covering all residents of Sindh between the age of 18 and 65 years. The scheme envisages providing an immediate financial relief of Rs. 100,000/- for the families of deceased victims of terrorism and other accidental deaths occurring in Sindh. The cost of the scheme works out at which the entire adult population of Sindh has been insured; with effect from 1st October 2016 until 30th June 2019 and thereafter extendable.
During his address, Mr. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh reiterated that the Government of Sindh is making continuous efforts for providing welfare and benefit to the people, especially the ones who have to bear with the burden of losing a bread winning family member to accidental causes.
It was further emphasized that going forward this scheme shall be made further attractive and element of social benefits shall also be added to it, regardless of any political or geographical considerations. The Secretary Finance Syed Hasan Naqvi signed the agreement on behalf of Government of Sindh while the M Faisal Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer of Sindh Insurance Limited signed on behalf of Sindh Insurance Limited also present at the signing ceremony were senior officials of Government of Sindh and other officials of Sindh Insurance Limited.
