Islamabad: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Culture Department, Government of Sindh and the Centre of Excellence in Art and Design, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro to provide six-month training to 200 youth of Sindh in various fields of performing arts including vocal music, instrumental music and folk dance.
The main objective of the certificate course is to provide opportunity to those interested youth who, after getting training, can potentially utilize their skills as well as promote the culture.
The project is being funded by the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme, Culture Department, Government of Sindh. The execution of the project will be jointly organized by the Mehran Arts Council, Hyderabad (MACH) and the Centre of Excellence in Art and Design, MUET.
Mr. Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Secretary, Culture Department and Prof. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput, Vice Chancellor, MUET signed the MoU. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Aslam Uqaili, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ghous Bux Khaskheli, Prof. Dr. Bhai Khan Shar, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Deputy Secretary Culture and Mr. Tahir Hussain Shah, Director, Mehran Arts Council.
According to MoU, MACH will provide venue and funding whereas, the course curricula and syllabi, and assessment procedure will be approved by a committee comprising experts from Culture Department, Centre of Excellence and other professionals.
