Karachi, May 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Ms. Naheed Memon called on Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Ashraf Mehmood Vathra in his office here on Wednesday. Chief Executive Officer Sindh Enterprises Development Fund (SEDF), Mehboob‑ul‑Haq, Executive Directors SBP, Samar Hasnain and Dr. Irfan were also present on the occasion. The Chairperson SBI told the Governor State Bank that the SEDF provides subsidy in bank loan markup to growers on such projects aim to increase production by using modern technologies.
The objective of providing subsidy is to encourage those introduce new technology and modernization in the agriculture sector, she said. She called for the need to fully benefit the growers with the subsidy on markup on bank loans. Ms. Naheed told the Governor SBP that the SEDF is also extending help to the rice growers under the Balancing Modernization and Replacement (BMR) scheme to utilize modern machinery in rice crop.
The Governor SBP appreciated the efforts of the SBI and observed that the State Bank Agriculture Finance and SEDF are departments of mutual cooperation and the projects like SEDF be also launched by others. He also assured his full cooperation to the Chairperson SBI and said the State Bank Agriculture Finance and SEDF will jointly work to introduce more schemes in Agriculture sector.
