Srinagar, February 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the people of the territory have shown strong resolve and commitment to the mission of martyrs and freedom struggle by observing complete shutdown on the martyrdom anniversaries of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The three-day shutdown to remember martyrs should once again serve as an eye opener for the world community and Indian leadership that the Kashmir dispute can’t be resolved by unleashing terror and force or by economic grants.
He deplored that the authorities resorted to all the tyrannical measures and arrested Hurriyet leaders, activists, workers and youths and imposed undeclared curfews across the occupied territory for past three days for demand the return of the mortal remains of the two martyrs from the New Delhi’s Tihar jail.
He said the Kashmir dispute can only be settled through political means in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar condoled the sad demise of Master Ghulam Ahmad Ganai, a political and social figure of Sopore town and grandfather of senior APHC leader, Bilal Ghani Lone.
He hailed the meritorious services of the deceased and prayed Allah Almighty to rest his soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
