Shutdown in IOK against killing of youth

Srinagar, March 29, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed across the territory, today, against the brutal killing of civilians by Indian troops in Chadoora area of Badgam district.

Call for the shutdown was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leadership has also called for valley-wide protest demonstrations on Friday. The troops had shot dead three youth Zahid Rashid, Saqib Ahmad and Ashfaq Ahmad during protest demonstrators at Chadoora, yesterday. Over thirty people had sustained injuries in the troops’ firing on the protesters, who had gathered to rescue some besieged youth. Another youth, Tauseef Ahmad Wagay, was also killed when Indian forces blasted a house in the area.

Meanwhile, thousands of people thronged Yaripora area of Kulgam district to attend the funeral prayers of Tauseef Ahmad Wagay. Five rounds of funeral were held for martyr Wagay before he was laid to rest in his ancestral area.

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference Syed Ali Gilani while addressing the mourners over telephone from Srinagar condemned the local pro-India politicians for singing the mantra of fraud elections for their petty gains. The APHC chairman extended condolences with families of the Chadoora martyrs.

Clashes erupted between protesters and Indian forces in Yaripora soon after the burial of the martyr’s body. Funeral prayers in absentia for the martyrs were also held in Ajas area of Bandipora district. Several people were injured in fierce clashes between protesters and Indian forces in Baramulla, Badgam, Srinagar and other parts of the territory against the killings.

A court in Srinagar, today, sent the illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, to Central Jail Srinagar on a 14-day remand.

Indian police arrested the member of so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, along with dozens of his supporters in Srinagar, today. He was leading a march towards the residence of the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, to register protest against the killings.
