Shifting of Kashmiri detainees to valley jails demanded

Srinagar, February 22, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called for immediate shifting of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in various prisons of India to the jails in the Kashmir Valley. A spokesman of the Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said the murder of a Pakistani prisoner in Jaipur prison in India has raised serious concerns among the families of Kashmiri detainees leaving them worried a lot amid apprehensions that their loved ones may also face the similar attacks.

He said the present situation is worsening in the wake of murderous assaults against Kashmiri students and businessmen at the hands of fanatic elements while same elements are forcing the Kashmiri students studying in various Indian colleges and universities to flee. He said in such a grave situation, the respective heads of various states have failed to protect and safeguard the Kashmiri students and businessmen, thus leaving them at the mercy of frenzied mobs of fanatic elements.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement thanked to people in India particularly members of Khalsa Aid for helping Kashmiris while they were being attacked. “We express our gratitude to all those people who helped Kashmiris at a time when mobs in India were attacking Kashmiri students and traders. We would especially like to thank Khalsa Aid, India, and our Sikh brethren in Jammu for their help and support,” he added.
