Sherry Rehman thanks Japan for its emergency support to tackle flood challenges

 Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Mitsuhiro Wada called on Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman in Islamabad on Friday.

The ambassador expressed deepest condolences from the government and people of Japan to Pakistan on the loss of precious lives and severe devastation caused by floods.

He briefed the Minister on humanitarian assistance and conveyed extension of emergency aid to Pakistan to tackle damages caused by the flood disaster that have occurred in Pakistan.

The Minister apprised him of the ongoing relief efforts, devastation wreaked by floods throughout the country and assistance required for recovery, reconstruction for the flood affected areas and population.            

She said the government’s aim is to build back better with climate resilient infrastructure and address the looming threats of food, livelihood and water insecurities.

The Minister thanked the Japanese Ambassador for his country’s support in this difficult time.
