Srinagar, April 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has called upon the Kashmiri people to boycott the sham polls on April 24, 30 and May 7, by observing complete shutdown to honour the invaluable sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs for the Kashmir cause.
Shabbir Ahmed Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiri martyrs had given their precious blood for the right to self-determination and not for the formation of puppet regimes in the occupied territory.
He pointed out that on one hand, the puppets of India were befooling the people of Kashmir in the name of development under the garb of such farcical polls and on the other, New Delhi was misleading the world community that the Kashmiri people had accepted its rule.
The senior APHC leader made it clear that the Kashmiris were carrying on a freedom movement. “By election boycott, India would be pressurised to conduct a referendum in Jammu and Kashmir so that the Kashmiri people will be allowed to choose their political future as it had happened in East Timor and South Sudan,” he added.
Shabbir Ahmed Shah said that any further denial of right to self-determination to the Kashmiris would push the whole South Asia to uncertainty. So there is dire need to find a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, he added.
The APHC leader said that the pro-India politicians who were crushing the freedom movement right from 1947 with the help of more than seven lac Indian troops deployed in the territory and had put thousands of pro-liberation leaders and activists behind the bars were now begging for votes. He urged the Kashmiri people to totally boycott the so-called elections to protect their future generations from further slavery of India.
