Shaban Khalid to represent Pakistan in Draper Hills Summer Fellows program at Stanford University

Islamabad, July 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): Shaban Khalid, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been selected for 10th Draper Hills Summer Fellowship training program by the Stanford University, USA being held at Stanford’s campus in Palo Alto, California.

He has been selected from over 500 applicants holding outstanding civic records and occupying high-impact positions in the policy, development and social sectors of their countries and is the only Pakistani to represent his country this year in said program.

Shaban Khalid will be joining a diverse and outstanding group of leaders hailing from 25 countries around the world working to achieve or strengthen democracy, accountability, social justice and economic development under challenging circumstances. He will be able to connect with a global community of over 230 Draper Hills Summer Fellows alumni network from over 60 developing democracies worldwide.

Launched in 2005, the Draper Hills Summer Fellowship on Democracy and Development Program (DHSFDD) is a three-week academic training program that is hosted annually at Stanford University’s Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

The program brings together a group of 25 to 30 professionals in law, politics, government, private enterprise, civil society, and international development from transitioning countries. This training program provides a unique forum for emerging leaders to connect, exchange experiences, and receive academic training to enrich their knowledge and advance their work.

Previous Draper Hills Summer Fellows have served as presidential advisors, senators, attorneys general, lawyers, journalists, civic activists, entrepreneurs, judges, think-tank directors, and influential members of the international development community. The program is highly selective and receives over 500 applications from various countries out of which only 25 to 30 applicants are selected. The program is always looking to identify strong leaders working to advance change in their local communities.
