Settlement of Kashmir, Palestine disputes vital to peace

Srinagar, June 22, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that peace in the world will remain a distant dream unless disputes over Kashmir and Palestine are resolved as per aspirations of the peoples of the respected territories.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe Juma-tul-Wida as day of Kashmir and Al-Quds Day. He asked imams and Khateebs of mosques to hold special prayers on Friday for liberation of Kashmiri and Palestinian Muslims from illegal occupation of India and Israel. He said that India and Israel had been subjecting the people of the two territories to brutal suppression to stifle their voice for freedom for the past six decades.

The Chairman of Hurriyet forum Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and APHC General Secretary Shabbir Ahmad Shah in their separate statements paid rich tributes to former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mirwaiz Maulana Yousuf Shah on his 49th death anniversary, today. They eulogized religious, social and political contributions of the deceased for the Kashmir cause. A large number of people visited the grave of Maulana Yousuf Shah in Muzaffarabad and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Meanwhile, people staged forceful anti-India demonstrations in Islamabad, town, today, where polling for the so-called Kashmir Assembly was held. Indian police subjected the protesters to brute force. Complete shutdown was observed in Doda against the highhandedness of Indian police.

APHC leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in his statement condemned the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leaders and activists and teenaged students by Indian police in Sopore. On the other hand, the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has invited Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah to Iftaar dinner on Saturday.
