Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary for Information and Public Relations, Azmat Hanif Orakzai has stressed upon the younger generation to fully participate in anti drug activities so that establishment of a society free from all social evils could be ensured.
He was addressing as a chief guest at a seminar regarding drugs ill effects on society in Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre Peshawar University on Thursday. Besides others Director Centre Muhammad Khan, Prof. Sahib Islam, Zafar Iqbal and a large number of students were also present on the occasion. The Secretary Information said that the government was striving hard to eradicate the menace of drugs and various social evils.
However, he added, these steps can become fruitful only when every individual of society particularly youth play their effective role in this regard. He also said that today the use of drugs is a most serious issue and the collective efforts are a needed to discourage it.
He underscored the need of awareness among the common man regarding this deadly habit of narcotics. He emphasized that the students should kept busy their selves in the positive social activities so that they were not attracted towards the narcotics.
Addressing the seminar, other speakers said that the drugs was a curse and every one of society should play his role to eradicate this evil. They said that the use of drugs was not only a evil but also a life killer disease. We should play our responsible role for the reformation of drugs addicts.
It was not less than the holy war (Jihad). They stressed the law enforcement agencies to take a strict action against drug sellers and punish them. The participants of the seminar appreciated the sketch presented by the students of Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre against the menace of drugs.
