Islamabad, October 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): Construction of Federal Govt Degree College for Boys Nowshera has been completed at the cost of Rupees 59.65 Million, which aims to provide quality education to the local students almost free of cost. The project was funded by the Federal Govt while 4.27 Acres of land was provided free of cost by the General Headquarters. Work on the project commenced in May 2010 and with completion of the most essential infrastructure, teaching classes were started in August 2012.
With completion of the construction work in June 2014, the college now provides all the requisite infrastructure supporting degree level science education. Secretary Defence, Lieutenant General Muhammad Alam Khatak, HI(M), TBt ®, visited the College facilities and formally inaugurated its building in a simple and impressive ceremony, largely attended by the students and faculty of the college. Garrison Commander Nowshera Major General Asif Ali, Acting DG HRD Brigadier Nayer Fardows and some senior ranking civil and military officials were also present.
While addressing the audience, the Honourable Secretary Defence termed the college a great facility extended to the people of the area, which will contribute meaningfully in educating the youth. He paid his compliments to the FGEI Directorate, MES and all others associated with the project for its timely completion.
He mixed with the students and faculty and wished for a sparkling future of the college and the students associated with it. He expressed his hope that the college will contribute meaningfully in educating the youth of this area. The Secretary Defence stressed upon the need of quality education, with a purpose and vision, so as to contribute effectively towards the nation building.
Earlier the Director Federal Govt Educational Institutions, Brigadier Khush Muhammad Khan, in his opening address welcomed the Honourable Secretary Defence. He apprised the audience of some important facts about the college and expressed his gratitude to Ministry of Defence for making the idea of the college a reality.
He highlighted the significant role of the GHQ and FGEI Directorate in providing quality education to over 185,000 students through 355 Federal Govt institutions, while producing enviable results in terms of pass percentage, cumulative GPA, and positions in Board Exams.
