More monsoon rains predicted in the country in coming days

Islamabad, July 13, 2017 (PPI-OT):Met-Office predicted widespread rains in southern parts of the country during Saturday to Tuesday. Spokesman of Met-Office informed that monsoon currents will start penetrating in Sindh from Saturday that will produce widespread rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated moderate to heavy falls in Lower Sindh (Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions) from Saturday to Monday.

Rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls also expected at a number of places in Balochistan (Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Kalat and Makran divisions) from Sunday to Tuesday. Localized Heavy downpours may generate Urban Flooding and Flash Flooding in the vulnerable areas of Balochistan.

Spokesman further informed that present weather system in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Kashmir has weakened. However, more monsoon rains predicted in upper parts (Upper Punjab, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir) of the country during Sunday and Wednesday. Moderate to Heavy falls may generate Land Sliding in the vulnerable areas of upper parts of the country. All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT during Sunday to Wednesday.

Widespread Rains predicted in coming week

Islamabad, July 07, 2017 (PPI-OT):Met-Office predicted widespread rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy to very heavy falls in the country during the coming week. Spokesman of Met-Office informed that monsoon currents are expected to penetrate in upper parts of Pakistan from Sunday/Monday that will grip most parts of the country during the mid week. A westerly wave is also expected to grip upper parts of the country during the mid week. According to foreseen meteorological conditions, the detailed forecast for next week is;

Punjab/Kashmir

Rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy to very heavy falls expected at a number of places in Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions), and Kashmir during Monday to Thursday. Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls also expected at scattered places in southern Punjab (D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal divisions) during Tuesday to Thursday.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa/Gilgit-Baltistan

Rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls expected at scattered places in KP, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan during Tuesday to Thursday.

Sindh/Balochistan

Rain/thunderstorm with moderate to heavy falls expected at scattered places in Sindh and eastern Balochistan (Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad and Kalat divisions) during Friday to Sunday.

Spokesman further informed that heavy to very heavy falls may generate urban flooding and flash flooding in the vulnerable areas particularly in Barsati Nullahs of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, D.G.Khan divisions, KP and Kashmir. Due to intermittent rains, there is risk of landslides in hilly areas of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the period

More rain predicted in next 48 hrs

Islamabad, July 04, 2017 (PPI-OT):Met-Office informed that more rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls is expected at scattered places of Islamabad, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat divisions), FATA, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during next 48 hours. Rain/thundershowers also expected at a few places of Sahiwal and Bahawalpur divisions.

Note:

Due to intermittent rains, there will be risk of landslides in hilly areas of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in next two days (Wed/Thu). All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT in in next two days (Wednesday/Thursday).

Rain with dust-thunderstorm predicted in country during the current week

Islamabad, June 05, 2017 (PPI-OT):Met-Office informed that a weather system is expected to enter in Pakistan Today (evening/night). Under the influence of this weather system rain-dust-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected over some upper and central parts of the country, such as;

Rain/dust-thunderstorm associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Tuesday to Friday with breaks.

Rain/dust-thunderstorms associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions and Islamabad from Tuesday to Friday.

Rain/dust-thunderstorms with gusty winds expected at isolated places of Quetta, Zhob, DG Khan, Multan and Sahiwal divisions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Spokesman further informed that current heat wave conditions will subside due to this weather system all over the country. A few hailstorm events may occur in sub-mountainous areas of Punjab, Hazara division and Kashmir during the period.
