Islamabad, February 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): Saudi Crown Prince and Defence Minister of Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdul Aziz called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Mohammad Asif here at the Punjab House Islamabad today. Minister for Defence warmly greeted the esteemed guest and hoped that His Excellency’s stay in Pakistan is comfortable.
Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said that the visit of the Crown Prince is highly significant and we thank excellence for undertaking this most important visit at the most important time. Both countries discussed matters of mutual cooperation in the field of defence and the visit of Deputy Defence Minister is said to have paved a key path in setting the direction.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have shown keen interest in extending cooperation in the field of defence and matters of defence trainings and cooperation in the field of education was broadly discussed. Saudi Arabia greatly appreciated the capacity of Pakistan defence industry and cooperation in the field of defence production also came under discussion.
Defence minister Khawaja Asif reiterated that Saudi Arabia holds great importance for all Muslims across the world and It is very important visit for us as we seek guidance from Harm Sharif, This is the first visit after assuming the charge of defense minister, we hope it will further enhance ties and will give boost to relations.
He added that the defense of Pakistan and Kingdom Saudi Arabia is the same thing. For us it is a sacred duty, by training of our senior officers in Pakistan. This corporation is not new this visit is going to increase corporation. This is a bond between two countries. In my opinion it is very significant.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed that the key is the exchange of military personnel for training. “I think we must have joint venture in defense production. I think if this can be explored we can be self sufficient we can produce our own defense equipment and provide it to Saudia we can even jointly provide it to international market. Minister for defence further reiterated.
