Karachi, May 10, 2016 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Cm Sindh for Culture and Tourism Sharmila Faruqui said that “Sangat” art exhibition is a gathering to appreciate ones struggle and skills. This show is an appreciation of all those artists from different backgrounds of Sindh including prisoners from Central Prison, Karachi.
Besides all of their difficulties, they have been attempting to satisfy their passion of art. Most of them are not the privileged ones to achieve an art education or any form of training but self-taught skills. This she said while inaugurating the 5-day Painting exhibition organised by Sindh culture and tourism department at National museum of Pakistan.
She added that some artists have been using this opportunity as their medium of expression which can be seen in work of prisoners from Central Jail. Central Jail has been providing training in painting to provide productive environment to prisoners which is evident in their paintings.
She informed that there are art works executed in different mediums including oil on canvas, drawing and water colours. Many subjects have been chosen as well. Culture and Tourism Department has been gathering their work from all districts of Sindh in order to promote their talent and appreciate their efforts. These artists deserved a chance where their efforts can be appreciated and promoted.
Participating artists are Manzoor Hussain Mangi, Fayyaz Akro, Azka Faisal, Sikandar Jogi, Hasnain Raza, Samar Abbas, Aziz Bugti, Firdous, Jamshaid Ahmes and Sajjad Sheikh Suratger. The exhibition will continue till 14th May for general public with free entry during museum timing.
