Karachi, April 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): Secretary Health Sindh Mr. Ifikhar Ahmed Shallwani has said that Robotic surgeries are less painful and their recovery time is far better as compared to manual surgeries. This he said while observing a Robotic Surgery at Sindh Government Qatar Hospital (SGQH) Orangi town.
45 years old Shehryar Bano was the patient whose Robotic surgery was supervised by Dr. Fateh Malik, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Syed Khalid Masood was also present on the occasion Mr. Shallwani further said that invention of Robotic surgery is a revolution in the field of surgery as it has less bleeding and stitches. It is very commendable that Robotic surgeries are being performed regularly at SGQH since its installation.
He said that treating patients through this latest equipment in this area shows the sincerity of Sindh Health department in respect of provision of better healthcare to the patients. Medical Superintendent SGQH Dr. Khalid informed the Secretary Health that a Robotic surgery costs Rs.2 to 2.5 lacs per patient and hence it is only used for patients severely requiring this procedure. Separate funds are required for accessories and maintenance of this machine, he added.
He also informed Secretary Health that the SNE of the hospital has not been approved for last three years and there was a shortage of Specialist doctors and nursing staff. As many as 3500 patients come daily in the OPD of the hospital and they are being treated satisfactorily, he further said.
Secretary health also visited dialysis centre of the hospital where nearly 750 dialysis are being performed monthly without any cost to patients while the medicines are also free. He also visited nursing school, main medicine store, surgical and medical ICUs, CT Scan machine, FCPS training centre and other wards of the hospital where he was informed about the working of these sections.
He while appreciating their performance hoped that patients would be provided even better healthcare facilities. He assured that efforts would be made to resolve problems of the hospital on priority basis.
