Islamabad, November 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): US Deputy Political Counsellor Rick Waters called on Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan/President PPP Punjab, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo in Islamabad. During the meeting the political situation of the country was discussed in detail.
While talking to the American Deputy Political Counsellor Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo said that the future of Pakistan lies only in the continuity of democratic process and sustainable development is possible only if political stability in the country. He stated that democracy under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari has flourish in Pakistan during last four and a half years. “Democracy in Pakistan is in its infant stages and we have to inculcate tolerance and political maturity in politics.
President Asif Ali Zardari has introduced the concept the political reconciliation in the Pakistani politics. First time in the history President has empowered the Parliament of Pakistan by transferring his own powers to the parliament.
Present parliament has done a remarkable job during its current tenure. A comprehensive mechanism for strong institution of judiciary, election commission and care taker set up are the some of the land mark achievements of the present Parliament of Pakistan. Media in Pakistan is free and vibrant due to the policies of the coalition government of Pakistan Peoples’ Party and its allies. Pakistan is the worst victim of international terrorism and our government is fully committed to curb this menace of terrorism.
Necessary constitutional amendments are under consideration for the creation of a new province in South Punjab. Present government transferred maximum powers and resources to the provinces and maximum provincial autonomy is granted
Rick Waters appreciated the efforts of President Asif Ali Zardari’s for the continuity of democratic process and political reconciliation and termed his role in strengthening democracy in Pakistan as pivotal. At the end Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo presented his auto-biography “Jurm-i-Syasat” to Rick Waters.
