Rich tributes paid to Prof Ghafoor

New Delhi, December 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Professor Ghafoor Ahmad.Syed Ali Gilani in his telephonic message from his Malvia Nagar residence in New Delhi, paying tributes to late Professor Gafoor Ahmad, said that he played a great and remarkable role in the politics of Pakistan.

“Throughout his life, he served the cause of Kashmir and had great sympathy for the suppressed Kashmiris. He was amongst the most respectable politicians of Pakistan,” Gilani maintained. The veteran Hurriyet leader said that Professor Ghafoor was an academician, a laureate and eminent religious scholar and his death was an irreparable loss for the region.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a condolence meeting held at its central office in Srinagar also paid tributes to Professor Ghafoor Ahmad. The Jamaat Amir, Mohammad Abdullah Wani, presided over the meeting. The meeting described Professor Ghafoor as an epoch-making political thinker and Islamic scholar.

The JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, APHC leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Zafar Akbar Butt and other leaders and parties have also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of Professor Gafoor Ahmad.
