Srinagar, February 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders have paid glowing tributes to the Kashmiri youth, Zahid Farooq, on his 5th martyrdom anniversary. Zahid Farooq, a student of class 11, was killed after he was fired upon by Indian troops at Nishat in Srinagar on February 5 in 2010.
The All Parties Hurriyet leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javaid Ahmed Mir, visited the family members of the martyred youth at Nishat in Srinagar and expressed solidarity with them.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javaid Ahmed Mir said that the families of Zahid Farooq and more than one hundred other youth who were killed by Indian troops and police personnel during the mass uprising in 2010 were still awaiting justice and the killers were roaming free.
They deplored that none of the troopers of policemen involved in these killings was punished so far. They reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the mission of their martyrs to its logical conclusion. Later, the APHC leaders led a rally from the residence of Zahid Farooq’s family to the martyrs’ graveyard. The participants raised high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, led by Raja Meraj-ud-Din also visited the family members of Zahid Farooq and expressed sympathy with them.
On the other hand, the Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Tufail Altaf Butt, in a statement thanked the people and government Pakistan for their continued moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris in their ongoing struggle for securing their right to self-determination.
