Rich tributes paid to Jammu 1947 martyrs

Srinagar, November 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has paid rich tributes to the Jammu martyrs of 1947 killed by Indian troops, Maharaja troops and Hindu extremists.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza speaking to a seminar in Srinagar said history is very cruel how Hindu extremist killed over 2 lac people at Bagh area. He said that the martyrs were buried at Shaheedi Chowk, adding that the Indian government had established shops and hotels on the graveyards.

He said that the sacrifices Kashmiri people would not go waste and one day India would be defeated and the people of Kashmir would succeed in securing their right to self-determination. Imtiyaz Reshi, Shabbir Ahmad Butt, Jaffar Kashmiri, Advocate Abdul Ahad Qadri, Tahoor Ahmad, Zahid Zahoor and Zulfi also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile Hassan Bana, Vice-Chairman of Peoples Political Front (PPF) in a statement in Islamabad paid glowing tributes to the Jammu martyrs. He said that the people of Kashmir would never forget the sacrifices given by their brethren of Jammu slaughtered by the communal and criminal forces in 1947.

He said the situation in Jammu is no different today. “The so-called Village Defence Committee (VDC) members have been deputed in Muslim dominated areas over there to crush the sentiment of the people,” he added.

“We are fighting for a just cause-the right to self-determination and our people, despite the worst kind of repression and suppression, have devoted their lives for the cause,” he maintained.
