Review meeting regarding Clean and Green Islamabad campaign

Islamabad, June 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign was not only meant for sanitation and repair maintenance work in Islamabad but to resolve the chronic issues which have been identified by the residents in their respective complaints. He said that we have compiled a comprehensive programme to resolve these chronic issues on priority.

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Syed Tahir Shahbaz said this in a meeting to review progress of “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign. Chief Coordinator of “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign and Member Planning and Design, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Estate, Shaista Sohail, Member Finance, Azhar Ali Chaudhry, Member Engineering, Sanaullah Aman, Member Environment Ahsan Ali Mangi and senior officers of different formations were also present.

Chairman CDA said that CDA is striving hard to provide ideal environment to the residents of the federal capital. Under the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign, CDA has achieved tremendous results and the campaign is being extended to the remaining sectors of Islamabad to further beautify the city.

Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the campaign was started from Sector I-10 and was further extended to sectors of the city including Sector I-18, I-9, G-9, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-11, F-8, F-10 and F-11 in phases. He said “we have achieved good results during the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign; however, we need to focus on the campaign by taking more effective measures. He appreciated the performance of Sanitation and Environment Directorates and said that during the successful campaign, day to day sanitation system in sectors of the city has been improved to great extent, while parks and playgrounds in sub-sectors have been upgraded. He said that during the campaign, employees of the authority have been working with consistency besides the routine working hours, which would earn good name to the employees of CDA from the residents of the capital city.

Syed Tahir Shahbaz directed City Sewerage Division to pay heed to the complaints of the citizens regarding open main wholes, especially the blocked / overflow main wholes in the city. He directed for fixing of covers on the main wholes.

Chairman CDA was apprised that there are 131 small parks in different sectors of Islamabad including 21 in Sector I-8, 18 in Sector G-11, 17 in Sector G-10, 16 in Sector G-9, 14 in Sector G-7, 12 in Sector F-7 and I-10, 11 in Sector G-8, 10 in Sector F-11, 09 in Sector F-8, 08 in Sector F-10 and 08 parks in Sector I-9.

He was further apprised that necessary repair, maintenance and beautification work in most of the parks have been completed; however, tenders have been called for construction work in the remaining parks. He was informed that recommendations for allocation of funds for the next fiscal year have been submitted for the remaining work. Landscaping work at different squares of Islamabad including Class-III Shopping Centres and green-belts of 9th Avenue, 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue has been completed.
