Resolve to continue Kashmiri martyrs’ mission reaffirmed

Srinagar, January 22, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the mission of their martyrs till it reached its logical conclusion. Muhammad Yasin Malik addressing a gathering at Gaw Kadal Bridge in Srinagar paid glowing tributes to the over fifty people who were massacred by Indian troops in Gaw Kadal on January 21, 1990. He said that the Kashmiris had witnessed dozens of massacres carried out by Indian forces to terrorise them.

“India, during its struggle for freedom, witnessed only one Jalianwala Bagh massacre, but Kashmiris have witnessed dozens of them carried out by Indian forces since 1990. The sole aim of India was to terrorise the people of Kashmir and put an end on their march towards freedom. But India failed to do so, as, despite all these killings and oppressive measures, people of Jammu Kashmir continued their march towards freedom,” he stated.

The JKLF Chairman said that January 21 was the day that changed the course of Kashmir’s history. “This is the day when Kashmiris started a peaceful revolution for freedom, took Indian bullets on their chests, and refused to budge before tyranny and illegal occupation,” he said. “Same kind of massacres happened at Hazratbal, Gojwara, Mashali Mohalla, Khanyaar, Dalgate, Zakura Bypass, Batamaloo, Magarmal Bagh, Handwara, Sopore, Sailan Poonch, Bhaderwah, Doda, Bijebihara etc,” he added. He asked the Kashmiri Pandits to return to their native areas and start living in their native homes in the Kashmir Valley with their Muslim brethren the way they used to do in the past.

Yasin Malik also condemned the recent terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda that left many people dead and dozens injured. “Those who carried out this attack can’t be Muslims. They have no human face,” he said. Meanwhile, the JKLF Vice Chairman, Showkat Ahmed Bakhshi, led the funeral prayers in absentia on Gaw Kadal Bridge for those killed in the Bacha Khan University attack. Earlier, hundreds of JKLF supporters took out a rally amid pro-freedom slogans from Maisuma to Gaw Kadal.
