Repressive tactics cannot subdue Kashmiris’ struggle: Gilani

Srinagar, March 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the ongoing uprising of masses has proven beyond doubt that repressive measures cannot deter the Kashmiri people from achieving their inalienable right to self-determination.

Syed Ali Gilani in his address to the people of the occupied territory through internet said that the execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru in a secret manner in Tihar Jail, last month, had once again attracted the attention of international community towards the long-pending Kashmir dispute.

The veteran leader, who is under continued house arrest, called for taking sentiments and ground situation in consideration for sustaining the ongoing agitation, saying that hasty decisions may prove detrimental for it. He urged the people to maintain unity among their ranks for strengthening the ongoing movement.

“I appeal to people to reaffirm their faith with the ongoing freedom movement and exhibit steadfastness, dedication and commitment. Be aware as our enemy is hell-bent to create wedge by instigating the sectarian and class war among different sections of the society,” he added.

Syed Ali Gilani also asked the youth to carry forward the ongoing movement with all their passion, determination and commitment.
