Rector International Islamic University vows to support Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority’s cause for promoting entrepreneurship among youth

Lahore, March 17, 2016 (PPI-OT): Prof. Dr. MasoomYasinzai, Rector International Islamic University has vowed to support the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) cause for promoting entrepreneurship among youth. In his opening address at an awareness seminar organized by SMEDA on “Entrepreneurship as Career Option”, he said that the augmenting challenge of unemployment to be faced by the country can be met by promoting entrepreneurship among youth.

He highlighted the objectives of the seminar and underlined the importance of youth towards education and development of their skills in pursuance of entrepreneurship as career option and setting up their own small businesses. He said that if the business opportunities are tapped by youth for adding value to wide range of products, it can help to relieve the pressure on job market. He appreciated the role of SMEDA for holding such awareness seminars for guidance of the university students.

Mr. Javed Afzal, SMEDA’s Manager Outreach, while speaking to the audience, said that SMEDA, had a wide network of regional offices in the major cities of Pakistan, involved in providing business counseling and other business development services to the young people aspiring for setting up their own small businesses. He emphasized upon the participants to pursue entrepreneurship as career option and also avail the business development services from various initiatives of SMEDA and other relevant business support organizations in the country.

Mr. Athar Jameel, Director, A and F Consulting presented his success story of journey towards entrepreneurship. He said that educated youth can play a vital role in business development and that can be helpful in development of the national economy. He said that business graduates having specialization in various disciplines would be helpful for the business sectors.

While giving the concluding remarks, Dr. Arif Saleem thanked SMEDA on behalf of the Islamic University for organizing the seminar to attract the educated youth towards business opportunities.
