Islamabad: A reception was held at Pakistan High Commission, London yesterday in honour of an Officer Cadet Muhammad Talha Zahid from Pakistan Army who won the Sword of Honour for overseas cadets at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst during 2011-12. The Officer Cdet was successfully commissioned on 13 April 2012 with excellence and unique pride. He is the 5th Pakistani Cadet to have achieved this honour. says a press release received here today from London.
Speaking at the occasion Pakistan High Commissioner for UK Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan congratulated the Cadet on his remarkable success that brought about good name for Pakistan. He said that such a success was testimony to the high professional standards of Pakistan Army which had always stood by its reputation with pride. Mr Hasan said that Cadet Talha had made the whole nation proud of him and it was a moment of joy for the Cadet, his parents, his organization and the whole country. He urged the Cadet Officer to keep up the high standards of professionalism set by Pakistan Army throughout his career.
The officer cadet has also received following awards at Sandhurst:
a) The Prince Saud Abdullah Faisal of Saudi Arabia Prize for Overseas Cadet with Best Academic Scores.
b) The Pakistan Defence and International Affairs (DIA) Prize for Best Performance at DIA by an Overseas Cadet.
c) The Brunei Prize for Best Performance at War Studies by an Overseas Cadet.
Another Cadet Officer of Pakistan Army Walid Bashir who attended and successfully completed the training at Sandhurst was also present at the reception. Both the commissioned officers expressed their resolve to serve the nation in line with the traditions and customs of Pakistan Army. The reception was attended by all the officers of the High Commission.
Earlier in the day the commissioning ceremony was attended by Mr Wajid Shamsul Hasan, High Commissioner of Pakistan and Colonel Omer Ahmed Bokhari (Army and Air Advisor).
