Srinagar, February 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian media has revealed that the personnel of Indian army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were involved in the killing of their colleague, Aurangzeb. The army is questioning three detained Rashtriya Rifles (RR) men for their involvement in the killing of Aurangzeb, The Indian Express reported.
Aurangzeb, a resident of Poonch, was a rifleman posted with the 44-Rashtriya Rifles (RR) that is currently deployed in Shadimarg area of Pulwama. He was on his way home in anticipation of Eid in June when Rashtriya Rifles’ men kidnapped and killed him. The blame was immediately placed on mujahideen, but it has transpired that the killers were Indian soldiers.
“Three personnel of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles have been detained by the Army and are being questioned for their involvement in the abduction and killing of fellow soldier Aurangzeb in June last year,” The Indian Express reported.
Aurangzeb’s killing on June 14, on the eve of Eid, dominated news and TV screens for many days. “He and his colleagues had hired a private car and requested the driver to drop him to Shopian but the car was intercepted by unknown men, who dragged Aurangzeb out,” the Hindustan Times reported on July 4, 2018. Within minutes after his abduction, Aurangzeb was seen in a short video in a forest answering questions on his duties, postings and operations. Hours later, his corpse was recovered in Pulwama.
